We are committed to the development of our junior members and the children in the local community.
Since 2013, Castle Hedingham’s junior section is referred to as the Hedingham Hotshots, with this logo designed by one of our talented junior members ……!
Our main coaching day is on Saturday each week, with coaching free (for the entire summer 10 week block) or half price for all our junior members. The groups are divided up as follows:
Mini Red Hot-Tots 9.00 to 10:00am: An introduction to mini tennis for our youngest members aged 4-5 yrs.
Red Hotshots 10:00 to 11:00am: Mini ½ court tennis for children aged approximately 6-8 yrs. This group serves as a gentle introduction to the game for young children.
Orange Hotshots 11:00 to 12:00pm: 3/4 court tennis for children aged approximately 8-10 years. This group is for children who have already attended the Red group and are ready to move on a stage. It equally serves 9-11 year old beginners.
Green Hotshots 12:00 to 1:00pm: Full court tennis – the next group up for juniors (aged 10-12 approximately) who are ready to enjoy a faster pace and further technical instruction.
The Hedingham Hotshots 1:00 to 2:00pm: Challenging and competitive. A very significant step up from the Green group (for 12+ years).
Match play is invaluable in the development of junior players and we currently have junior teams entered into the Halstead & District League.
Any junior who expresses an interest in representing the club is given a chance to play, with teams picked on a rotation basis.
Castle Hedingham Tennis Club has been an integral part of the community since 1922 and has links with many local schools. In addition to providing free and subsidised coaching to our junior members, we also offer free coaching to hundreds of local schoolchildren as part of our commitment to the local community.
For several years we provided free coaching to one or two classes of local schoolchildren at our courts in Castle Hedingham. However, we soon realised that is was difficult and costly for schools to transport lots of children to the village so we decided to “take tennis to the kids” instead. Our coach spends an entire day at the school, during which every class from reception right through to year 6 gets a free tennis lesson.
Castle Hedingham Tennis Club now offers free coaching days to 3 local schools each year and we hope to continue expanding the schools program.
